January 1, 2009, the governments of Greeley County and the City of Tribune united to form the Unified Government of Greeley County. This innovative move streamlined local government affairs and resulted in a more responsive, broad-based approach to addressing area issues. The City of Horace, located within Greeley County, chose to retain its own city council.Members of the Unified Board of Supervisors

Meetings
Unified Greeley County Government Meetings are held at the Unified Greeley County Courthouse on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. The meeting on the 2nd Monday is held at 10 a.m. M.T. The meeting on the 4th Monday begins at 1 p.m. M.T.For more information

Duties of the Board of Supervisors
The Unified Greeley County Board of Supervisors are vested by Kansas State Statute 19-212 with both legislative and administrative powers and duties. These powers and duties include the following:
- Supervision of Municipal Services District and General Services District property
- Organization of township following statutory procedures
- Control of the financial affairs of Unified Greeley County
- Approval of the annual budget
- Levying of Unified Greeley County taxes
- Designation of depositories for the Unified Greeley County Treasurer
- Construction and maintenance of county roads and bridges
- Approval of land use and zoning policies for Unified Greeley County
- Issuance of bonds
- Awarding of contracts
- Incorporation of cities
- Creation of specia l districts
- Setting of salaries of all Unified Greeley County employees
- Providing a jail, courthouse, office space, and supplies for all Unified Greeley County employees and the district court
- Appointment of members of various boards and commissions
The Board of Supervisors also serves as the County Board of Canvassers for elections.
